Judaism From Within
A tribute to the legacy of Rav Samson Raphael Hirsch Why This Title? It was his motto ’sich selbst begreifendes Ju dentum ’, Judaism understood from within, a term that encapsulates Rav Hirsch’s approach of diving into the essence of Judaism, viewing it through its inherent structures rather than through external lenses. For the new Sefer, Devarim, I decided to bring out a few points Rav Hirsch will be using throughout this last volume. Devarim is considered a repetition, what Moshe told the children of Israel before they entered Erez Israel. However, there is an intricate pattern as to which commandments are, in fact, repeated. Enjoy.

We also learn how the nation of Israel withstood these attacks and what makes us truly a people of G-d. Enjoy

This week's parsha discusses the Meraglim. But Rav Hirsch focuses on the rules of additions to Korbonos brought before G-d, described after the sin of the Meraglim. In a fascinating discourse, we see how the Nesachim are directly connected to the level the nation of Israel were at and lessons they had to learn. The amount of wine, and the way it is brought, show us how the laws in the Temple are correlated to fundamental lessons we can learn. Enjoy

This weeks discussion is very loosely connected to this weeks parasha. Last year I went through Parashat Barmidbar and the positions of the tribes, pointing out their significance. This week I’ll be doing something different, with a focus on education.
